Protest Savings Calculator
Compare your noticed (appraised) value to a target value supported by comparable sales or an unequal-appraisal argument, and see the estimated dollar savings, broken down by taxing unit.
Short answer: savings = sum over your taxing units of (taxable noticed value − taxable target value) / 100 × unit rate. Select your actual taxing units below, or enter one combined rate if you already know it — never a guessed, single blended "county rate."
Protest deadline: generally May 15, or 30 days after the appraisal district mails your notice (the Comptroller says the count starts from the mailing date, not when it arrives), whichever is later (Tax Code §41.44). Confirm your exact deadline on your notice, and file at the Texas Comptroller's property tax protest page.

Protest prep checklist
Educational self-help checklist only — not a script to read verbatim, and not representation. You present your own evidence to your appraisal district or review board.
- Comparable sales: recent sales of similar homes nearby (size, age, condition, lot), priced below your noticed value.
- Condition photos: document deferred maintenance, foundation issues, or damage that would lower a buyer's offer.
- Unequal appraisal: a sample of comparable properties appraised at a lower value per square foot than yours, as allowed under Tax Code §41.43(b)(3).
- Your appraisal district's own record card: check it for factual errors in square footage, room count, or condition.
- File on time: generally by May 15 or 30 days after your notice is mailed, whichever is later.
